11 Thanksgiving Bible Verses For Your Heart

1. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

No matter what comes our way, God calls us to be thankful with every single thing that comes our way.

That means when we’re sick – “Thank you God that I’m not as sick as I could be and I thank you for my coming health”. When our bank account is dry – “Thank you God that I still have a roof over my head and that You still take care of my bills even though I don’t understand how.”

2. Colossians 3:17

“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”

Jesus is our bridge to God the Father. Without God the Son, we have no way of even speaking to the Father. So through Jesus’ name, we need to give thanks to God, as a representative of Jesus.

3. Philippians 4:6

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

“Don’t worry” sounds like a warning and an order. It’s that important not to worry about anything. Worrying leads to health decline and relationship disruption. Pray about everything that’s going on and talk to God about all of it.

Everything going on, whether good or bad, God works it out for our good. We can trust Him and say thank you for all things.

4. Psalm 100:1-5

“Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”

Stay positive in all things. Worship God with joy and gladness in your heart. Reach Him and go through His threshold with thanksgiving. Thank Him for all He has done and all He is doing. Give praise to His name for He is Good. His faithfulness goes on forever.

5. Psalm 107:1

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

God is good at all times and in ever circumstances. We should always stay thankful and make known our thanksgiving to Him with everything we have and with everything going on around us.

6. Ephesians 5:20

“And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I want to encourage you to make a list this week of 100 things to be thankful for. Keep that list around. Every time you’re feeling dismayed and disheartened, it’ll help to be reminded of the thanksgiving in your heart.

7. 1 Chronicles 29:13

“O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!”

God is so gloriously wonderful, isn’t He? Be sure to always give Him praise.

8. Colossians 3:15

“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”

Sometimes, as moms, conflict arises in our hearts. It’s hard to have peace in the midst of the chaos of the home. As the Body of Christ, it’s imperative that we try to stay peaceful in our hearts. And always be thankful.

9. Daniel 6:10

“But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.”

It was against the law to pray to anyone but the king in Daniel’s time. But what did Daniel do? He swung those windows open for all to see, knelt right in front of them, and prayed 3 times a day.

He made sure that he showed his gratitude and thankfulness to God even though it might have cost him his life.

10. Revelation 11:17

“And they said, ‘We give thanks to you, Lord God, the Almighty, the one who is and who always was, for now, you have assumed your great power and have begun to reign.”

Did you know that in Heaven, we’ll continue to give thanks to God and bow down to Him to recognize His Holiness and Majesty? God isn’t here for our sake, we’re here for His.

11. 2 Thessalonians 1:3

“Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.”

As Christians, we need to get in the habit of thanking God for each other. Paul is thanking God for the church in Thessalonica. They were faithful and loved one another with Christ’s love.

When we see that happening in our Christian relationships, we should remember to always thank God for those around us.

Staying thankful to God is just as much our assignment on this earth as it is raising our kids in Christ and sharing the gospel with others. Gratitude for God takes heart preparation. Thanksgiving Bible verses are a great start to further thankfulness to God.

There’s no way to be able to give true thankfulness with a sour heart. That’s why I said it’s a good idea to keep a list of what you’re thankful for. That way, with the help of these thanksgiving bible verses, you’ll have a go-to for thankfulness.
