Bringing Scripture Into The Lives Of Your Children

Bringing scripture into the lives of your children is a powerful way to raise them. Has there ever been a time when you found the perfect scripture verse to explain an area of your life?

It’s the same opportunity you can give to your children. Bringing the Word of God into their lives not only sustains them, but sets them up to be spiritual leaders in this world later on.

Using The Bible As A Tool

Here’s something that I’ve learned about the Bible: it’s God’s way of speaking to us in our time of need. Not only that, but it’s a tool that we can use to overcome the enemy and his tricks against us.

The Bible tells us, when referring to the armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18, that the Bible is “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God“. Bringing the scripture into the lives of our children and using it against the enemy cuts him down where he is.

When we speak the scripture against him, he has to leave.

Setting Your Children Up For The Future

One day, your children will grow up and leave the safety of your home and guidance. When that day comes, you’ll want to know that you prepared them in advance. You’ll want to know that they have the ability to face the world without you.

Bringing scripture into the lives of our children helps us raise them as arrows in this world. With the Word of God as their foundation, they have the power to overcome every adversary.

They will also have the foundation to look for scripture for themselves, in any area of life they need it. You won’t be there all the time to help them, but your direction in looking to the scriptures at all times will be with them.

Bringing Scripture Into The Lives Of Your Children In Every Area

When you read the scripture over and over, you will no doubt start to remember certain stories and the basis of those stories. Remind your children that the Bible has an answer for every area of their lives. This will help them go back to the Word in times of joy and trial.

I’m not saying that you have to completely memorize the Bible cover to cover (although if you do, I’m SURE it wouldn’t hurt). What I AM saying is to read through your Bible every year.

Become familiar with stories and passages. When you do, you will remember where to look when you’re going through similar circumstances.

Teach your children these same steps.

The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (ESV).

3 Simple Ways To Bring Scripture Into Their Daily Lives

Bringing scripture into the lives of our children will help them in their daily lives.

1. Memorize Scripture Together

Go through your Bible and pick out useful scripture that simple and easy to memorize. When you put the words to motions, it’s much easier for your children to memorize.

Work with your kids one verse every day for a week. Once they’ve got it memorized, move onto the next. Continue refreshing past verses when you start going over new ones.

2. Saying Scripture Over The Areas Of Life That Fit

There are times when my children need a little extra help with reassurance. When we’ve recently memorized scripture that can be worked into real life, we say it together.

Sometimes my children have trouble trusting that God will take care of them and that nothing bad will happen to them. When this happens, we recite Joshua 1:9 together.

When we say that verse together, they are reminded that they don’t have to be afraid of anything, because God is with them wherever they go.

3. Praying Scripture Over Your Children

When we pray scripture, we are putting ourselves in agreement with God. Do you want the lives of your children in agreement with the will of God?

Find scripture that will be a blessing to their lives. When you find scripture that matches their circumstance, whether it be good or bad, simply put them in the scripture.

Ask God to reveal the perfect scripture that will bless your child’s life.

There is no greater blessing than bringing scripture into the lives of your children. When you raise them to understand and respect the Word of God, their faith will stand firm long after you have raised them. They will remember that God has given them a strong tool and a future with Him forever.
